Another engine ID help post

Just aquired a 10 HP 2 stroke McCulloch outboard from a friend and the engine cover is missing. I need to identify the engine for this and to buy a few parts to get it running again. It does have a tag on it. Is it possible to find out the year by the serial number? There is no manufacter date, it is definitly a vintage engine. No model Number, just the 10 HP rating and the first four of the serial number "138A" Looks goofy without the cover on.
