I have a 2006 60 Hp. 2 stroke Yamaha on the back of my little Triumph. I am replacing the Tack. Current tack is set at 2. Faria sent me an e mail telling me this is a T model 12 pole and to set the tach at 5. The tach has 1-6 settings. but 5 for a 12 pole seems odd.?
Thanks
Can anyone tell me the correct number of pols for this motor

brennan, i did a google search for Faria tach instructions. Not knowing your model, i looked at TC9011. Those instructions said setting 5= 10 pole and 6=12 pole ( as you suspected ) I would advise you to either call Faria or google search them with your specific tach model.

I appreciate your input. I did write Farina and the guy said this motor is a 12 pole with a 5 setting on the tach. However, I replaced the unit in the boat that was set at 2. I installed it at the 5 position and the tach needle just slowly walked its way around 350 degrees and stopped and stayed at the 6:00 o'clock position and it not move when I turned the key on or started it. I reset it back to 2 and that seemed to make it work correctly. Of course I a have no idea if the RPMs are being correctly read.
