hi guys, I am having one quite of an issue with my motor that im about to quit boating...

my motor is a p200tlrq year 92... at the beginning of this season, I did a tune up where all the reg maint work was done... took the boat out and it ran fine like a champ until a few trips in... I was experiencing a power surge in the upper range (3000-4500rpm) ... make the story short, I went through the usual carb cleaning ordeal... carbs are not the issue here....I later noticed oil leaking from 2 of the spark plugs cyclinders on the head... removed the plugs and found they are fouled... these were new plugs not even a few hours on it... did a compression test and all cylinders are around 110psi... I don't think it has anything to do with the plugs but something more... I went and bought new plugs again and installed them... went to lake and ran the boat and ran find for the first 10 mins... came back to ramp and pull plugs and again fouled... please someone point me to the right direction...

thanks,

Over fueling and/or over oiling due a problem with the oil injection system or carburetors or the enrichment system that are not set up properly.

thanks for the quick reply... how would I fix that silver???? my carbs were fine and working last season... I didn't adjust the fuel/air screw so why would the motor be running rich now... could it possibly be that the oil pump is shot?

update

upon extensive research based on how my plug looks after it was pulled, I have determined that it is getting foul due to oil which can only be caused by two reasons...

its either not running hot enough or all the rings on all cyclinder has shiet the bed... my bet is that its running too cool... I proceeded to take off the covers to the water jacket seals however, holy hell, so many frozen bolts... I am afraid to force it and break it... any suggestions?

thanks,

clogged cooling passages will cause the motor to run hotter not colder , so not to sure why you are trying to pull things apart.
thermostats missing or stuck open is where I would be looking if motor was running too cold

ahh at first I was thinking the same why would it run cooler when the water jacket is clog... shouldn't it run hotter?... but that's seems to be the way it functions according to the web and other peeps... maybe someone can explain the process to both of us...

update:
I was about to redo the oil pump and notice that the linkage was very lose... at the close position, the oil pump arm did not touch the stop... in fact, it was about 1/5 of an inch off... not sure if this could be a problem... readjust the linkage and now the arm is almost touching the stop... hoping this was the cause... will test the boat when I have a chance...

lol... seriously man???...
anyways, after all the adjustment everything tests out pretty good so far... I had the motor running at 4500rpm for almost 30mins and it ran good... btw I also ran the Yamaha decarber which seemed to make the engine sound a lot better... after the run, I pulled the plug and none were fouled... however, I did notice some of the plugs had carb build up on the outer ring... the insulator is clean... should I be worried about the plugs or is this normal...???

What brand of oil? I had trouble with Pennzoil in the yellow bottle. That stuff just gummed things up. Valvoline and Johnson / Evinrude 2 stroke oil worked great.

took the boat out and made it to the island and back..no prob... got home and took plugs out and plugs were not as bad as before... still some build up on the plugs...

stupid question...
noticed brown oil substance on the plugs... is that the oil that was not burned off??? new thermostats and popet valve was installed but it appears that the engine is running cool since im getting carbon buildup on plugs... any ideas anyone...
