I was thinking of replacing the carpet in my boat, so I starting taking up the carpet. I notice a soft spot on the floor before I took the carpet up, but after pulling it up I notice I few knot holes that were loose. What is the best way to fill in the knot holes and stiffing that little area up. I went to rotdoctor and he talks about drilling hole half way through the floor and then injecting some epoxy in. Is there any thing else I need to know, thanks alot

I'm confused by your post - do you have rot or are trying to fillknot holes or both? The fix will be different.

If you have any rot it must come out or it will spread unless you manage to kill the fungus that causes the rot. All else is a temporary fix.

Re: Another floor rot question

Sorry about the confusion. I have a small soft spot on the port side of my engine compartment. I took up the carpet to look and found the knot holes. The wood does not look rotten at all just soft. I was going to buy some cpes and fill-it epoxy from the rotdoctor to repair. By reading the rotdoctors web site it sounds like you can stiffen the floor with the Cpes and then fill the knot holes with the fill-it epoxy am I close to be right..........?

If your absolutely sure that there is no rot, which there almost always is if it's soft, dry it out real good with a heat lamp and coat it with CPES. Fill the knots with marine tex. I would be suprised if there was no rot if it's noticeably soft. Good luck.
