I've been offered a 2000 Tohatsu M15D2 for $850 and am strongly considering it even though I don't currently have a hull to hang it on.

It's owned by a long time friend, so I know the engine, know that he used it regularly and keeps it well maintained.

However, though it has a good reputation, I know very little about this engine or it's market value.

Sound like a reasonable buy?

It's a bit high....Maybe. Small engines hold their value at a higher % than larger ones. If it is an engine that was/is/will be used in saltwater, then I think it is about $100 to high.

Thanks, Elvin ...

I thought it just a bit high, too, but I know the motor, how it has been used and how it has been maintained, which has to offset part of that.

It has been and will be used in salt water, but, as I say, it runs very well.

I know very little about this model, but with an electric start and it's history, It's better than buying one I know nothing about .. even if it costs me a little more.

Or I think, anyway :)
