I had a 20' edson fiberglass bowrider with a 5 liter merc and I wanted to go fishine one day but couldn't find a partner so I went alone. It was the detroit river and a real muddy channel to the ramp.
It was just dusk and I was taking the boat out. I had the trailer parked on the ramp and I was holding the bow and stern lines and trying to pull the boat onto the trailer.
It was a little too close to the dock so I put one foot on the side of the boat to push it out a bit, then I fell. Right on my back with my right foot and right arm in the boat and my left foot and left arm on the dock, and the boat is pulling away from the dock.
It's amazing what goes through your head in a split second. I invisioned myself under the boat in stuck in the muddy bottom.
With that I summoned my super powers and pulled the boat back to the dock with all my might. I managed to get it close enough to roll into the boat.
Of course the first thing to do is jump up and look around to see if anyone else saw it.
Nothing, no one, and no video. Just this little story.
Now each time I'm waiting in line at the ramp chuckling at all the clowns trying to back up and get their boats on their trailer, I think of that day and look around to see who's watching.
