Another Mercruiser Prop question

I have a new '09 Caravelle 206BR, 5.0L 220HP, Mercruiser outdrive. Came fitted with aluminum 14.25 P21 prop. Runs fine, but want to save that prop as an emergency prop and put a stainless steel prop on. Could someone recommend a brand and diameter/pitch combo for me. Do I need to change diameter/pitch when swapping to stainless? Sorry, didn't get the RPM and now not in the same location as the boat. Thanks.

Re: Another Mercruiser Prop question

14 1/4 x 19 for heavier loads/water skiing. 14 1/4 x 21 for cruising/speed
Look for a prop that uses an XHS hub. This will allow for a bit less expense if you want to change again, also eliminates any spun hub issues. I have had Mercury, Michigan Wheel , and Turning Point stainless props , all were fine.
Look for the best deal.

Really need the RPM to help here . . . if you are already near the low end of the range then going same pitch with a stainless would be bad . . . Really need to verify everything to make good recommendations. Your plan is perfect, but need the 411 . . . ;)

My brother in law is going to launch the boat and check RPM at FOT. Getting wife to find the recommended max in the owner's manual is another matter.

Also had a tech at propmd recommend either a Silverado 13.75X21 or Power TechRAS 14.25X19. Any comments on his recommendations?

The recommended max RPM for that 5.0L is 4400-4800. Both are good props although I'll bet you can find the Quicksilver for less $$'s

Re: Another Mercruiser Prop question

The nephew and wife ran it this evening. Full down trim FOT 4250 RPM. Trimmed 4400 so I ordered the American made Power Tech RAS 14.25P19.
Thanks everyone for your advice. I think this should work well.
