Model#70ESL74M
Serial#J4066827
70hp Johnson powershift II
Wondering if anyone knows what year this is.

I would like to give correct tune up and see what happens.
The gentleman I pursched this from was unsure of year.Said the motor was on a boat that he had sank in a boating accident several years ago

He said it was to big and heavy to move around
and he was tired of it being in his way all of the time
Belive it or not I just pursched this one
in a yard sale for $50.00
Was missing starter and plugs were bad.I changed
them
Added a used stater I had on the shelf.

Stuck it in the tank. Wow it runs .accelrates good, shifts foward and reverse, and idles almost perfect.
Wish I could find 5 more just like it

Mike :) :) :) :)

FFF

Change the Water Pump out before you take it out. Got to be brittle after sitting a few years. You may want to clean the Carbs also, as they probably have gunk in them from old fuel. This will insure less chance of problems when you get on the water.

Thanks Outboard jim
I checked the lower end oil befour I ever tried to start it. But thanks for the reminder.

As for checking the manual I would if I had one.
Not to sound like a smartelick or anything.

The last thing I want to do is make you or anyone else here mad I really do appricate
all the help and advice from everyone.

As for manuals would anyone know where to get them at a resonable price.
Knowone seems to have them here in my kneck of the woods .

And the dealers we have around here look at us like were all stupid if we ask too buy or order one.

That is unless we are wearing a suit and driving a new car.

Seems like a country boy with long hair and a beetup chevy truck hasent got a chance in one of those places around here.

Things shouldent be that away but in someplaces they are.
Thanks again Mike

.
