I am looking at a 1998 24ft pontoon with a 40hp yamaha. I have an older (84) deck boat with a good running mariner 90hp. The pontoon is rated for over 100hp. Just wandering what to expect as far as mounting the bigger motor and hook ups.

Also, I've been reading about long shaft motors. How do you know which you need. I was going to measure the distance from the bottom of the boats to see if the 90 would work. Any suggestions?
