Another oil alarm question

Have '91 115 mercury. Studied as much as possible before asking dumb question. If my oil pump gear is bad should I go to premix 50 to 1? I like the oil injection, it seems easier to deal with. Replaced warning module,$97.00 mistake. Checked all wires, sensors, must be oil pump/gear.
Seems to be 2 opinions whether to fix oil pump or "don't look back at it".

Also, I have 28 gallons on board not mixed. Can I siphon out about 5 gallons to mix and pour back in to tank, would this give a good mix? Apologies in advance 1st post, thanks all.

Two choices:
1. Fix it (very expensive ... powerhead must be torn down).
2. Pre-mix.

Byrdog does that engine have the integrated oil tank or a remote oil tank ? As north40 said, the integrated oil tanks often have the float level magnet fall off the float thereby giving false "low oil alarms". Until you are able to determine the exact cause of the alarm run premixed just incase. I would think that premixing the 5 gallons rich (approx 5.6X)or about 9:1 should be OK. Pour the premixed in and slosh it around good.

It was float in integrated oil tank. Took tank loose and turned upside down, alarm stopped. Thanks all.
