I changed the oil last week and pumped out the old oil through the dipstick tube. I am having some issues checking the oil on the water, so today I decided to change the oil again. Instead of using the pump, I used the drain hose under the engine....fed it though the transom drain plug.

All is got was about 2/3 quart of black, nasty oil to drain from there. Boat is level and I warmed up engine before hand. I am going to go pump the rest oil via the dipstick but why won't all of it drain via the drain hose from the oil pan?

I keep answering my our questions....guess I should do some research before wasting your dang time. I pulled the hose right out of the oil pan. It looks like I have some big issues going on...... :( :(

I am SOOO dang frustruated! Can't get more than 2/3 oil to drain, right!? So I go jack up the nose and here come all the oil! The amount that is suppose to be in there. Manual says check on the water so it's level, I do and dip stick is dry. I put on the trailer and it's fine! Go to drain the oil, nothing drains, put the nose up, here come 5.5 quarts!

Is this engine mounted wrong or something? I guess I am going to put the pug in, add the specified oil and do this all over again. I have GOT to be missing something minor here. My engine is not losing oil, or at least not very much at all and I am very confident it is coming from the hose adapter on the oil pan. I just yanked it off without much effort. Oil pressure is at 40psi too!

No water in the oil either. hummmmmmm..... what did I get myself into with this boat???

You just have to get the engine at the right "level" to get it all out.

I installed a hose in the pan drain like this one from Overtons

And got a pump like this one...

And I can pump ALL the oil out in a min or 2, cold or hot.

Cheers,
