I am running a 4.3 out of a truck 10066011 block number. Do I run the 5w30 It calls for or 25w40?

You run a heavier oil because it is being run harder than it was in the truck. heavier viscosity protects moving parts better at high RPM's thinner viscosity is better for stop and go lower RPM's. Your boat engine is always under a load and may spend an hour or more running in excess of 3500 rpm's wile you car or truck is only under a light load and spends much time coasting, only under a load while getting up to speed.

So with the bearing tolerances and all, the 40 will be ok. How about Rotella? I know its a diesel oil.

Ayuh,..... I run it in a Fleet,.....

Of 1/2 dozen different boats with different motors,,...
Of 3 dumptrucks, 2 pavers, 2 rollers, a millin' machine, 2 backhoes, several small honda's, my pickup, 'n the ole lady's car,...

All outa the same 55 gallon drum,....

Never had an oil related motor issue, so long as it wasn't a Lack of oil,....

I have the same philosophy as Bondo. Buy Rotella 15w-40 for all but one vehicle (because that one is still under warranty)
I buy 5 gallons at a time

I run Rotella T-6 in the boat (5w-40), and used to run it in most of my vehicles also. (new vehicle is under warranty and requires slightly thick water, aka 5w-30)
