another peehole question

I ran my 73 merc 650 in a 55 gallon drum and had a STRONG stream coming thru the peehole, when i putit in the lake i get a weak dribble, occasional spurt, but the engine does not overheat. Should I be worried?

Great Dane,<br /><br />When the motor was in the drum were you running full throttle? Your impeller might need to be changed out to improve water flow at high rpm's.<br /><br />Robg

we ran it at idle while in the drum, never faster than high idle

try changing your impeller...see if that helps. if not maybe something is blocking the flow through the telltale?
