Looking at a 2002 21' Wellcraft Excalibur 210 with the Volvo 5.7 GL SX (260hp?). Garage kept with 114 hours. Any thoughts on this boat? Will be using for Intracoastal and short trips in the Gulf for cruising. 21 deadrise I hope will be a good ride. No wood construction? Owner says motor was flushed for 30 min. after each use, manifolds and risers have never been off.
Outdrive lube was changed at 50 hours.
Your thoughts???

Both look nice. Thats going to be a tough decision. Both look well equiped.

I think the only place you will be able to scrutinize either boat is in the maintenance records and how much your looking to pay

One small thing to consider - insurance. When I was purchasing my boat, my insurance agent (local, small agency, works with Progressive for boats) told me to stay away from Larson. She didn't know why, but insurance was higher for them than all others. I questioned her on it, and she pulled up a progressive free quote on a Larson 19' F&S, and a Four Winns 19' F&S - the larson was over $400 and the FW was just under $200. No clue why, or if she was doing something wrong. Just might be worth looking into a free quote before signing on the dotted line.

On another note - that Wellcraft is a beauty!

That's a toughy because fuel injection is a BIG plus. However that Welcraft is really sharp and I'm not a big fan of Larson's. No personal experience but there's been a good number of posts on here about Larsons with fiberglass issues.

Re: Another potential purchase- Update

Well, looked at both boats, drove the Larson and I did not like the ride in what was only 2' max. Both boats have the same hull so...

Made an offer on a 2002 Maxum 2400 SD, wife loves it. $13800 with trailer subject to sea Trial and inspection. 5.7L Carb with Alpha 1, I hope it will be enough. Also has trim tabs and bow /stern thrusters. Some sort of built in flush system for the engine with blue hoses. GPS and radio. Springs on trailer are rusty, interior is in good shape. It is on consignment, owner needs to sell.
Here are some pics of the same boat, better shots then mine.
