Another Prop question which pitch to go with 150 XR2

Okay I am just looking for second prop to have to change out from the existing one I am running with just for fun and more speed.

Current: 5 blade SS, 23 pitch (Runs aprox 53 mph(GPS) @ 6100 RPM)

I absolutely love this prop, but I am just looking for something with more speed. I know the 5 blades are limiting me in the MPH factor so I am going to purchase another prop to have speed.

I am planning on going with a 3 blade aluminum but not sure what pitch, do I go with same 23 pitch or do I step up to the 25 pitch.

What do you guys think?

Depends what kind of boat aswell. I'm running an 89 150 merc on a 18 ft Charger DL. I run i believe a 25 or 26 SS pitch prop on it and i can get just about 70 mph on radar but it is a slug out of the hole.

Aluminum has to be thicker, and thus have more friction with the water, just to stay in one piece. No aluminum prop is going to perform even as well as the high five.

I would only use aluminum as an emergency spare on that engine. There are many stainless props that work well on the market.

yeah if I go with a 3 blade 25 pitch prop it will be SS, I had aluminum on the brain when I posted that. Wonder if I can get a deal on Ebay
