Took it out for about 3 hours this morning, fired up great, and ran great. Did alot of fishing and docked it for a few minutes. Started it back up and it seemed to be miss firing, then as i went along at a higher rpm, it smoothed out, no more miss fire. Then it seemed as though it was slipping the gear to go forward, but reverse was ok. Forward gear would engaged but at a higher rpm. Any thoughts on where to start???

No, at first I thought the coils needed to be charged. But now it sounds like a gear is slipping and then as I get to a high enough rpm, it slams into forward gear and takes off. Could my lower end fluid be low and what type do I need?

Most likely: clutch dog and fwd gear need to be replaced. Less likely: an adjustment to the shift cable. If nothing has been messed with, parts are probably needed, which require disassembly of the LU.

Clutch dog. But the LU's on the '58 35 are easy to take off and apart.

Well, looks like i'm gonna have to pull it out of the water. Any one know where I can find these parts? Also, is there a diagram of what I'm getting myself into anywhere on the web? Don't have a manuel.

Well, tightened the shift cable a little, felt like it got a little loose and it's all good now. For now I should say. Looks like its something I'm gonna have to keep my eye on.
