Ok so this one isn't as bad as some i have read here but it aggravated me. We took the boat out for it's maiden voyage of the year, we pull in to the parking lot for the launch i stop and prepare mine, my dad already had his ready to go so he just backs down the ramp to launch. This is a smaller ramp you can launch 2 boats at once, when we got there a small tiny was tied up to one of the sides with a dad and 2 kids standing on the dock, no trailer in site. My dad launches pulls and parks, he says "I don't know what that guy is doing" and walks back to his boat, by this time I ready to launch so i get in the truck put it in gear start to move and a lady in a Caravan goes flying buy me and parks compleatly blocking the ramp. The guy on the dock walks up and gets in the van and backs it down gets out and starts to load the boat. At this point I'm thinking ok i will just wait for them (I like that side of the ramp) the wife gets back in the van and as soon as he is clear of the back of the van she gunns it squealing the tires half way up the ramp, comes to the top and stops right where you pull up to back down the ramp. Well the husband says somting to her and she gets out he gets in and moves it and finaly i can launch.

Stuff like that irritates me to no end. Where I dock out there is 3 one lane ramps you pull in and circle the the left and wait your turn while you ready your boat. There will be some knuckle head come in from the wrong way and mess the entire system up.

Re: Another ramp story

One day I went fishing with a friend of mine on his pontoon boat. After we were done for the day we headed back to the ramp. When we got there there was a family putting their boat into the water. We had to wait because the city is repairing 2 of the three ramps so so only one boat can be launched or loaded at a time. Anyway, they got the boat in the water and parked the truck. Then when they tried to start the boat it would not start. As all of this is happening more boats are collecting around us waiting for the ramp to clear so they can load up. There is also a line forming of about 5 or 6 trucks waiting to launch. But instead of this guy and his family putting the boat back on the trailer, or pulling the boat by the rope away from the ramp to the other side of the dock and then trying to find the problem he decided to fix the boat right there in the water at the ramp. After about 30 or 45 minutes and a lot of people yelling at him he finally got the boat started and took off. Can you believe he just ignored the fact that everyone was waiting for him. He did not even notice a the people yelling.

Oh, I am sure he noticed he just didn't care. It happens all the time. People give no consideration to others.

I was waiting to launch one day just before a man and his girl retrieved their boat. They pull up slightly after getting the boat on the trailer (blocking the ramp) and proceed to dry the boat off with towels while everyone waited in line.

C'mon, boats are meant to be wet!!! Plus this thing looked like it was built in the 70s so it wasn't a new boat.

People are strange

I'm sure he noticed but did not care. I'm only guessing... Why should he care when no one cares about his problem? No excusing people doing stupid things. But everyone has their unique perspective on each situation. Maybe next time, get out and offer some assistance and suggest that he can move the boat to a more convenient location.

A lot of folk just don't care about anyone else or they just can't help it because they have absolutely no common sense.

i think this is it in a nut shell !!:D:D.......... i think most inconsiderate people arent jerks ...they are just too dumb to know any better:eek:.....in which case they just need a lil guidance.

now if he yelled back profanities or said something like "make me move" then you have an ******* on your hands ..............in which case i would just back on in with him and help him move ...... whats he gonna say when your outboard is up his butt ?!

i havent seen one dock where swimmers had the right to swim on the ramp much less block the ramp.........and if you aint in your boat that classifies you as a swimmer to me ;)
