1998 280 Fiesta Vee. 30' x 10.6' One 7.4 Merc Bravo I
Sink, a/c, fridge, toilet, etc, etc, only thing missing is a gen set. Bottom paint still good, easily 2 maybe 3 seasons left. Good sea trial, exterior vinyl like new, interior good considering age. hull/fiberglass seemed good for age. gelcoat intact. For her year and what she is, she's above average and well maintained. 168 hours. Stainless anchor (not windless) and chain.

$24K and he won't budge another dollar.

Thoughts?

If your boat was surveyed ignore this post. Well cosmetically it's good and you say it passed a sea trial, now if we were talking 4 or 5 grand I would say go with your gut feeling. But 24 grand on a 10+ year old boat I think I would invest in a surveyor. A lot of people may disagree but I figure a 3-4 grand gamble on an as is is within my reach but I would rather throw 500 bucks away than to buy a $24,000.00 pig in a poke.

Good luck maybe someone else has thoughts

Did a little googling on the model.....looks like a fantastic layout and that price seems real good to me for a 30' in great shape. You should absolutely get a full survey when we're talking about that kinda money.

(my additional uninformed thoughts) Almost all the ones I looked at were powered by twin 4.3's. Is a single big block going to be enough power? Have you driven this boat yet? Personally the thought of have two engines/drives to maintain sounds like a nightmare and I'd personally prefer a single but on a 30' I don't know.....

I agree with ezmobee. Single engine on a 30', 10 1/2' beam is alot of work. What's the weight of the boat, probably pushing well over 8000 lbs. Then add gas, probably 150gal or more, fresh water tanks, supplies and people - you're pushing over 10,000 lbs. That's a lot of weight to get up on the plane. Once on the plane, it probably moves ok, but to get there, you really have to drive it hard - every time.
My personal opinion, if you want a 30' boat, then get one with twins. But that is just my opinion.

Ok, first off the manufacturer refers to this model as a 28' boat, please start to do the same. 28' boats routinely come with only one engine (30' boats don't), YOU WILL BE JUST FINE!
