Things are going a bit slow but steady.
Fiberglassing is almost done, I hope we can turn them within a few weeks.

Regards,

Martien
The Riviera Project

Very nice looking boats you have there. I was looking on the site and why did you use so many layers of wood?

Hello Realgun,

We used two layers of plywood and one solid Mahogany layer. I think this is quite normal, don't you? Total thickness is about 14-15mm

Regards,
Martien
The Riviera Project

Re: Another Riviera update

Someone recommended I take a look at you project as I am getting ready to start a 19' Barrelback soon and could use all the help I can get.

The boats look grreaat!

My plans and instructions recommend Mahogany for the frame work and I didn't know if I could find a cheaper alternative. Any input there?

I am planning on using 1/8" veneers for the planking, but found a guy that is using 3/16" planks for the top and used 1/8" and 1/2" plywood (marine) for the subsurfaces. What did you use? and did you use epoxy on the inside as well?

Your projects look beautiful and I would like to continue watching your progress and get any tips you may have.

Lots of luck

Hello Dunfer,

Thanks for the compliments. It's good to hear that all the pictures at our site can be a help for other people.

I like the barrelback's design. It must be a pleasure to build her. (Don't forget to take some pictures)

We also used Mahogany for the frames. It's not too expensive, works great and I also like the idea to use Mahogany for all the solid parts.

If you have any questions, just ask and I will try to help.

Best regards,

Martien.
The Riviera Project
