Re: Another Sea King
There are only three basic types of connection for outboard fuel. Yours is not the Johnson/Evinrude or Chrysler, so that leaves the Mercury style. I'm not familiar with Mercury outboards, so I can't tell. What I'd do is go to Walmart and have a look at a Mercury connector. If it looks like it might fit, buy one and try it.
If that's not it, then you can replace the fuel pump with one designed for go-carts...they're readily available, and not expensive. Any small engine shop can provide one. They work the same way as the one on your engine. If you go that route, I definitely suggest the Johnson/Evinrude connection for both the engine and hose connections. They're easiest to find, and usually cheapest.
But...before you go that route, check to see if the Mercury hose fitting works. For a long time Wards sold rebranded Mercuries, so that's a good bet. In the 70's, their motors used Chrysler fittings, as did Sears outboards.
You should be able to figure all this out with no problem. The aftermarket fuel pumps have three connections. One to the tank connector, one to the carb, and the third to a connection on the engine itself. No brainer, and any of the small ones will work just fine. You'll just have to figure out mounting, etc.
