Those Sea Kings all used Chrysler-style connectors. You should be able to buy one at any marina. I noticed, though, that my local Walmart no longer carries them.

The Sears outboards had the same connectors.

Okay so this fitting should be a common part then....all I'll need is the model and serial number?

OK, are you talking about the fitting on the end of the hose, or the one that's attached to the engine? If it's the one on the hose, you don't need any model numbers at all. It's just a Chrysler female fitting.

If it's the one on the engine, it's a different matter. Let us know which it is and we'll be able to help you.

Here on iboats, it's always a good idea to state the model number of your outboard whenever you ask a question, since that can help the nice folks here address your problem.

Re: Another Sea King

I have taken some pictures of my Sea King Motor showing the fuel inlet and where it is attached and located.
The Information on the Manufactor tag reads as follows

Clinton Engine Company
Model # J00 1160 B
Serial # 366 049
Type # 6027007 R

As best as I can tell the motor is a 1970 model 7 horse power

Being as it is a clinton, you are going down the wrong road looking for Chrysler. Clinton parts are at CEPCO (formerly Clinton Engines) 605 E maple Maquoketa, Iowa 52060. If you phone you may get info with contact info. Be patient. Ph 563-652-2411. FAX 563-652-3427.

OK. That connection is definitely not a Chrysler connection. I don't recognize it, but I can see that it's attached to the fuel pump for your engine, and it doesn't look removable, but I can't really tell from the photo.

Look to see if the connection threads into the fuel pump. If so, then it should be possible to remove it and replace it with a more common fuel fitting. Use extreme caution, though, since the fuel pump casting is probably poor quality metal.

Maybe someone else will be able to identify the fitting. I suppose it could be a Mercury-style fitting.

Re: Another Sea King

I dont think the fitting Screws in and the part on the motor seems to be in good shape its the other side of the connector I need so if anyone comes across any info that might help me I'd be glad to hear from them. I don't seem to be able to find even a parts diagram or anything else online about Clinton motors of this nature

Re: Another Sea King

There are only three basic types of connection for outboard fuel. Yours is not the Johnson/Evinrude or Chrysler, so that leaves the Mercury style. I'm not familiar with Mercury outboards, so I can't tell. What I'd do is go to Walmart and have a look at a Mercury connector. If it looks like it might fit, buy one and try it.

If that's not it, then you can replace the fuel pump with one designed for go-carts...they're readily available, and not expensive. Any small engine shop can provide one. They work the same way as the one on your engine. If you go that route, I definitely suggest the Johnson/Evinrude connection for both the engine and hose connections. They're easiest to find, and usually cheapest.

But...before you go that route, check to see if the Mercury hose fitting works. For a long time Wards sold rebranded Mercuries, so that's a good bet. In the 70's, their motors used Chrysler fittings, as did Sears outboards.

You should be able to figure all this out with no problem. The aftermarket fuel pumps have three connections. One to the tank connector, one to the carb, and the third to a connection on the engine itself. No brainer, and any of the small ones will work just fine. You'll just have to figure out mounting, etc.

Re: Another Sea King

Sorry guys, but that is a Clinton motor and the connector is unlike anything else. It plugs directly into the fuel pump, which is that thing you see in the picture. You gotta contact CEPCO if you expect to have any hope matching it.

Re: Another Sea King

I tend to agree with Imported F R, I have never seen a connection like the one i hope to find.... I am smart enough to go and look around at all the local boat shops and Wal-mart before I came to you guys at the "Worlds best place for old boat info" Although I appreicate everything thats been said here..... I had figured it would be a thing I was going to have to wait to buy or at least find out about even if there was no part to be bought...
Oh well i suppose I will have to wait for a reply from the guys at CEPCO

I have an identicle motor. Someone ground off the connection you're having a problem with and then threaded it. Unfortunately the d&t job was so poor that it made hairline cracks in the fuelpump when they screwed it in. Maybe someone with a little more talent could do it and make it work.

I need various parts as well and would like to hear how you came out on this.

Good Luck.

Re: Another Sea King

I spoke with a man at the CEPCO company and found him to be very helpful as well as pleasent to deal with, however he does not except credit cards so you have to mail him a check or money order to have him ship the parts.....
I sent off the payment Monday morning so i will keep you all informed as to how it gose from here...

Re: Another Sea King

Funny thing is, my 7 hp sea king (clinton) has a different type of connector on the motor...its a male single nipple type. The hose connector is a female with a spring loaded bezel that slides back like an air hose fitting. maybe someone modified mine? huh?

Re: Another Sea King

Mine is made with a male nipple sticking out with a collar around the nipple and the female side slips over the whole thing and it looks like it is a twist locking type of connection but I have only seen the one side I have, which is made onto the fuel pump, so I suppose I will have to wait until I get the other side before I will know for sure.
I posted some pictures of what the part I have looks like and will post the connector when I get it as well

Re: Another Sea King

Sent off to CEPCO and got real good service the part was right and they were prompt with my order. I mailed off a money order on Monday and received the part the following Tuesday. They told me over the phone how much the part would cost and how much the shipping would and said I could mail a check or money order and the part would be shipped to me and gave me no idia how long the turn-around time would be so I was pleased to say the least.

I will try to post a picture of the fuel line connector for all to see so that in the future we can all say "oh I've seen one of those"...
Thanks for the help
Mic
