Another Serial Number Question

I just recently purchased a 75 hp Johnson but am unclear about two things. <br /><br />What is the year of the motor? The Model# is J75TTC1E and the Ser # is J5829356.<br /><br />And what is the "knob" for that is just below the key switch on the motor control? The 'knob' rotates both directions. <br /><br />Thanks in advance for your help.<br /><br />Buck Wheat

Buck Wheat <br /><br />You have an 1981 (CI) Model Johnson. The knob is a friction control for the throttle to keep it from creeping back.
