another shift adjusting q.

its a 1992 40 hp johnnyrude, small gearcase<br />i can here it wants to go into rev. but wont. i do have other gears. i took the cables off and moved it around. i can see the spring loaded ball goes into the cam mechinism fully in each gear position, but it still doesnt go into rev. so my question is there another adjustment i can make somewhere else, it looks like the shift rod coming up from the lower unit has a bolt on it but i cant get areal good look to see if i can adjust there

Disconnect the shift rod from the shift arm.Manually position the shift rod in the neutral position.This can be checked by turning prop by hand.Prop should turn freely when in neutral.Disconnect the shift cable from the shift arm mechanism.Reconnect shift rod.Adjust cable until hole is aligned with shift arm mechanism.This should have the shift linkage adjusted pretty close.Fine adjustments can be made by turning the cable trunion.
