I bougth a 16ft polar kraft and trailer, niether of which came with a title or bill of sale. The trailer i'm not to worried being able to get a homemade trailer title. The boat on the other hand is going to be a LITTLE bit of work (or so i thuoght). I live in MD, so the first thing i did was contact the state and find out what i needed to do (and to find out if it was stolen lol) I gave them the HIN they told me who the last onwer was and that i should try to contact them. I can NOT find anything on this guy. I have thought about an abandoned boat title. I called the state to ask about that course of action ,and found out that it was probably better off to just spit into the wind. My worst fears are that i have a 16ft rowboat. I've been working at this for a year and a half now. I am about to the point of selling the boat, and trying to find one WITH papers. I really dont want to give it up this boat has so much potential. But I'm tired of fishing the bank, and would like to get on the WATER. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanx PC

there are companys out there that can get you a title. but be very careful because you have to sell them the boat they get a title for it and sell it back to you.not sure how long it takes to get the title.

yeah i,ve heard of a company ITS(international title service), but i'm i little leary about the whole "sell them my boat thing". IT makes sense I'd just need to find a reputable company. Any good ones you know of or have dealt with. Thanx PC

check with your dmv (a pain, i know) and request a certificate of purchace. it will require paperwork for (usually) the state police or conservation police to have thier vehicle identification office check the vehicle. the cert of purchase can then be sent to the state for the title. This is the same way that tow companies and salvage yards get clear titles to vehicles. some states require an extra step in the form of a salvage (not junk) title which is then turned into a clear title. hope this helps.
