I'm finally through the demolition stage (I hope) and have started the rebuild. Here are before and after shots of the transom. 2X of 3/4" ply and 3 layers of 1708 fabric, stuck together with a whole bunch of #12x 1 1/4" SS screws and 1 gal of epoxy. New core for the hull, floor stringers, fuel tank compartment and cockpit sole are next.

Thanks for the replies. Pic #2 was probably the smallest pile of what I removed from the innards. Back and neck aches, knees hurt and I think even my hair hurts!

Hi John,
Actually, there are 5 stringers, but also 4 lifting strake "pockets(?)" that have to be replaced/rebuilt. Add to that the replacing of the rotted balsa coring. I am using 1/2" ply with a woven cloth overlay for that. What you see in the pictures is the hull laminate. I really bit off more than I bargained for. Live and learn, right? Too bad that I am such a slow learner! I'll update with photos as the work progresses.
