Another Trim Pump Motor AGAIN!?

Well, I replaced my trim pump motor last year cuz the old one (and that one was only a year and a half old) started acting funny, 3-5 seconds of grunting hesitation before it ran smoothly. Now, not even 1 season on the new one and it is doing the same thing as the old one! While I was dealing with the first pump, I asked you all if anyone knew why this was happening. Got lots of answers but none were correct.

After taking the old one apart, here's what I found inside the pump motor: oil from the resevior! Obviously I have a bad resevior seal, so does anyone know how hard that is to replace? I will scour my manual when I get home today, then take the unit apart this weekend and see what needs to be done and what parts I'm gonna need.

Me has the OILDYNE power trim pump with the plastic resevoir. I'm about to read up on it with my factory Merc service manual #6, but if anyone has any experience with this issue, sure would appreciate any info!:)

Just read up on changing the seal and it seems like a fairly simple fix, but if anyone's done this and knows something I don't... Anything I should look out for or be careful of?

I've never done it, but looking at the manual, can't be that hard. I asked which pump earlier to direct you to the right manual. Good luck...should be a breeze.
