Another Water line????(not my telltale??) routing???

Hey folks
I started up my new/used merc1400(1978) model the other day first time.
Ran great, telltale squirting like mad, but noticed alot of water dripping from inside
Cowl, looked and noticed another water line just laying there, inside bottom of cowl
It is connected to a fitting between 2-3 cyl on the head. I just positioned it so it runs
Outside the cowl but still not sure of its use???
My old 75 Merc only had one line and that was the telltale

How about a connection to a water pressure gauge which apparently didn't come with the engine.....as they are usually dash mounted where the operator can read them. Plug it if you don't choose to use it.

I will look further at where to hook up a guage from
