I currently have 17.5' Procraft fish n ski with a great mariner 150 and the floor is slowly getting softer and softer. Rather than replace I?ve decided to buy a hull and install my motor. I?ve found a few boats but there?s one I?m particularly interested in and for the most part it looks like its in good shape but the guy told me a 19 year old owned it previously and had issues docking and banged up the sides pretty good(filler and repaint from what i can see). Do you guys think the damage is structural or just cosmetic? From what I?ve been told the floor and transom are solid and other than the damage from docking in good shape. Also if any other issues you could see coming. I use my boat for 40% fishing 40% watersports 20% cruising. Most if not all my fishing is done on the flats and i do run in the gulf on good days. Asking price is 1k no motor no trailer.

structually, hard to say. but the hull is a modified copy of those fabulous old Cobia's. they rode extremely well, were great in rough water. i have own 3 Cobias over the years. i would by a snap on bow cover, just in case you get caught in really rough water, to shed and water over the bow.

I have one, 20', I think that is what you have as well. Mine is a 1999. I have the brouchure for it, I could email it if you like. Family loves it, wife fishes, the girl snorkles, great for shallow water and then turn around and go out into the Gulf, it does well in both. Anything else you would like to know?

that about covers it. i was more concerned about the deep blemishes running down the sides from docking. I may pass this one up its in miami(400mi) and the guy has it on ebay so I doubt ill be able to pick this one up.

The scuffs on the hull sides aren't normally an issue, the big problem is finding a hull that doesn't need to have the floor, stringers and transom replaced. You may be buying something that needs as much, or even more work than your current boat. Be very careful, check everything, don't believe the seller when they say the boat is solid with no rot. I'm not saying they're lying, just that they may have no clue as to the real condition and probably have never looked for any rot.

All of the holes in the transom would concern me. Looks like all kinds of stuff was mounted to it at one time....
Thats one of those cases where you need to see it in person before you buy.

Well it's not a 21', from I boats:
The 1997, 20 Sport DC is a 19.58 foot outboard boat. The weight of the boat is 1500 lbs. which does not include passengers, aftermarket boating accessories, or fuel. The max rated horsepower of this boat, as listed by the manufacturer, (according to records we have) is 150 hp . If you do not have the manual for your engine then we highly recommend that you get one as repowering is costly and it takes you off of the water. When repowering, it is best to verify this information for the sake of safety and to ensure that your insurance company will cover you.

Don't know about the 1997, but my 1999 is a wood free hull.
Hope this helps.

I would be very concerned with a 19 yr old driving it. he looked like he did a number on it and thats just what you see from the pics, why is there no motor. Did he sink it? Why are they selling? How long ago did he wreck are scratches new or have they been there a while? You really want to be careful. And i wouldnt bid a dime on most things on ebay unless i have seen in person. Hope this helps

not buying it i can find better im sure.. the guy bought it from the 19 year old for the motor removed it and doesn't need the boat. It actually seems like a pretty good deal but I'm not close enough. I did some homework and the boat uses all composites and no wood so rot wouldn't be a problem.
