thought i would answer the four questions i posted some time ago and got no response so i researched them myself...1). the good folks at shell oil said to always use midgrade fuel. midgrade contains additives the other two grades do not have. 2). sea foam, quickleen or power tune, in that order. 3). a four blade on the 16' fishing boat will perform better than a three blade and the difference in speed is not noticable and it does not make a difference if the outboard is a two stroke or four stroke or what manufacturer. 4). installing the 20hp carb will provide enough of a boost to make it worthwhile...only a 20hp will run like a 20hp but it will run like an 18hp. And if you can't or won't get out and burn some of that $4.00 plus gas then you deserve to sit at home and play video games with your fat kids.

I can only find Question #4 in your previous posts . . . I apologise if we didn't read your mind for the other three . . .

The good folks at Shell Oil are full uh carp. Do you have any more prop data for us? How does an 18 hp run? Whose kids you callin' fat?

This may be one of the stranger posts I have read here. Techno? Ray? Is that you? :D

If you know so much why did you ask?

#1. Shell is wrong and the wrong people to ask. They sell gas, and the additives are for 4 stroke cars. Ask the engine maker.

#2. Where did you get that garbage? All work about as well as they are used.

#3. "Perform better"? Depends on what you measure. Three blades make less drag

#4. Depends on what you consider "worth it". If it is worth it to you, congratulations.

#5. A post revealing a smart alec attitude often gets ignored. Yes, I know you didn't ask, but you did whine.

I see some answers, but no questions. One moment, while I put on Johnny Carson's Carnac the Magnificent turban...the answers, which have been kept in a mayonnaise jar on Funk & Wagnall's porch, are:

1. Does a Shell station owner know more about my outboard than the maker of that outboard?

2. What are three gasoline additives, in reverse alphabetical order?

3. Which prop has more blades? A three-bladed prop or a four-bladed prop?

4. How can I spend the most possible money on my 15 hp to get a minimal performance increase?

Ed McMahon says: You are correct...sir!

OH GOD, are we getting old or what! ;)

--------------------------------------------------

Question 1. always 50:1...50:1 always.

That was one of the questions, or?

Question 2. will a carb from a 20 hp or 25 hp fit my 15 hp and if it will what will i gain or lose? i know it should be jetted for 50:1...

I guess I must have missed 3. and 4. somewhere along the way.

Shell gave you a bs answer. There is only 2 grades in the tanks. Regular and Premium. Midgrade is a blend of the two at the pump. Why do they want you use midgrade? It helps them move some of the premium fuel that no one is buying.
