I need to paint my Mercruiser alpha 1 sterndrive with antifouling paint. The one I used for it last time (I forgot which brand it was) I swear it attracted the barnacles. The whole drive by the end of the season was completely covered in barnacles. And I used the boat almost every weekend for the summer. I have a pic somewhere that I'll post of it. It's amazing. So I just sanded the drive, put a coat of primer on, and put a couple of coats of Rustoleum high performance flat black paint on. It looks great. But I need to put antifouling paint on it. Anyone have any recommendations for paint? I would prefer a spray paint but I will use anything.

I have used the Trilux 33 and the Pettit spray stuff with equally mediocre results. This year I tried a brush-on version of the Trilux 33. Time will tell. What brand were you using that had poor results, if you recall?

barnacles still attach to the AF paint. they are just a bit easier to blast off with the pressure washer. ooh the joys of a moored boat.

I think it was a quicksilver paint??? I don't remember to well. It was probably the cheapest paint they sold at west marine 8 years ago. The AF on the hull is the best!! That year the drive was covered in barnacles the hull was clean and no growth what so ever. I didn't paint it but would love some more of that paint.
