Just herd someone ticketed in Ohio for leaving trailer hitch in receiver ,they will make more than enough to offset what they will loose on me and my old boat .

Legal def. and dictionary def. are two very different animals... That said Ohio is WAY WAY cheaper for boat reg than many other states... My Montecarlo is $68/3yr in Ohio and $480/yr in Indiana.... That's a savings of $1382!

I think Florida actually does have an antique boat registration ... But that doesn't help you in OH

All of our boats are permanent registrations here, as well as our trailers, my 14 footer was $66.50 and my trailer was $52.50 and they are lifetime registrations good as long as I own them, I have to get a sticker everything three years from our parks and wildlife dept. that is free. We don't have a antique registration available.

wow, bummer for some other states for licensing a boat.
neb. don't have any historical licensing i'm aware of. but gee, here in neb., for a class 2 boat (16'-26') it's $46 + $4 issuing fee. $50. it's good for 3 years too. best deal from any gov. organization i've ever run across. better yet. my non powered canoe don't require registration. in other words free. $200 for my used canoe and havn't spent a dime on it since... so far, 3 years of enjoyment...

as for the trailer hitch. yikes. i havn't taken mine out for years. to bad for the guy that rear ended me in a nice new ford pu last year. my hitch sure messed up the front of that truck. i got a minor dent in my bumper which the ford guy bought me a new one and he got the ticket, not me.... lately, i've been trying to stay in neb. some of these other states have some strange rules.

like southkogs says though. "But that doesn't help you in OH"

Trailer hitch tickets are urban legend.

Nope, not where I live, you can be ticketed for leaving your ball mount in your hitch and you can be ticket for not retracting your mirrors while you are not towing. My wife's cousin was killed by a mirror a few years ago in Yellowstone while riding a bike on the side of the road and the guy had not retracted his mirrors after parking his travel trailer.

In FL if the vessel is over 30 years old you can register it as an antique.

There are three requirements:

1) Must be over 30 years old.

2) Must be powered by the same "type" motor.

3) Must not be used for commercial use.

Baja costs me $6.25 per year. WooHoo!
