Re: Antique boat show Sept 8
Well I went to the boat show last Sat, and yes the boats that were there were beautiful and quite interesting; however, I also left there w/ an uneasy feeling of being nothing but a mere peasant under the rule of the feudal lords otherwise none as the 'wood boat' owners. It was my first time going and yes I wanted to show off my boat a little, so not knowing that you have to register to apparently reserve a slip I attempted to dock a few times. Each time I was met w/ a glare or some 'woodie' pulling in saying 'were here for the antique boat show and thats my slip' with the implication and inflection really saying 'so get your piece of **** fiberglass rag out of the way'. I knew why they were there and I appreciate their classic wood boats but dont turn your nose up at someone whose boat actually does qualify for antique status and is just as proud of their boat as you are regardless of what the hull is made out of. Maybe Im over reacting but I got the feeling that unless you have a 'wood hull' your nothing but a pion. Oh well, I love my 74 fiberglass nonetheless. I am actually going to attempt to buy a 57 wood hull Dixie soon but you can bet your *** I wont think I am holier than thou no matter what you boat is made of. Sorry, just venting a little......boat on Glassmasters..
