I have a 1966 Aluminum Starcraft mercruiser renault 80, this stern drive has the hydraulic shift mechanism.... ITS JUNK. Engine runs great, but i cannot find parts for the outdrive. Does anyone have ideas where to get parts. OR any repower ideas.

What Starcraft model do you have?

Some, not a lot, parts for MC 80's are available, start here by selecting 1966 or by 80 HP - http://www.iboats.com/Mercruiser-St...3858712--session_id.379853101--view_id.268708 The shift is mechanical as other M/C outdrives, but used a manual hand-cranked tilt and trim pins like Merc outboards, plus tilt assist shocks like O/B's. What parts do you need?

Repower - Find a donor with a new, complete 120 HP 4 cylinder and outdrive, including TnT pump. It shouldn't take much to add 40 maintainable and more reliable horses.

I think it's a Jupiter 5! The hydraulic shift in the out drive.

You sure? The parts diagram for the lower unit is the same as those made today. No hydraulics in the lower unit at all.

Jupiter V, not Jupiter 5.

100% I think it's considered a " 0 " drive... Mounts to with only 4 bolts instead of 6..... Has cable from control to transom, then a master hydraulic unit, and a slave unit down on out drive..

Here is a pic of the parts page i found # 36 is master (sender), # 46 is slave (receiver)

Thinking about RE-POWER to mercruiser 120, out of my tri-hull .

do you think they would be close enough, everything i have measured the merc 120 is about 1/2 larger in almost every direction.

Curious - What makes you think that is for hydraulic shifting? #36 is the reverse lockout valve.

I think a 120 will fit. It may be a little wider and longer, half again, I don't know. The doghouse can be lengthened and widened to fit.
