I have an old ship's search light (lantern) and am trying to find out any information about it. The side plates read:
Rushmore Dynamo Works, Jersey City, New Jersey
Type G with a date of 11/01 which I believe to be a manufacture date of November 1901.
No. (number) 2041 - I have callled directory assistance for Jersey City and they have no listing for 'Rushmore'.
I hope to find what ship/boat it was on - am looking for any information that might help to that end.

Thanks for any help. :) stafford@network-one.com

You might try a Barnes & Noble store near you,you don't have to buy, but you can lokk at what might be available on nautical antiques.

photograph it...... measure it...... and list all writing and markings on it....... send to SOTHEBYs.....they can appraise it.......... might cost a few bucks...... but from what i hear so far..... it might be worth it......... and IF it has substancial value....... you want a rider on your insurance policy........dont mean to get you hopes up too high....... but i did find a lamp..... at a mans house one time..... told him to do the same...... was worth 80,000........... you never know.
