Antivirus Question

Question for the 'puter whizzez among us: I just uninstalled Norton antivirus on my laptop and installed the free version of AVG. The speed increased dramaticly. I had no idea that Norton was such a huge resource hog. I'm going to do the same or a similar thing to my desktop. My question is, does anyone have any input or experience regarding AVG, or perhaps another AV software, and has anyone had the same experience with Norton?

I have it on my desktop and my laptop and I don't really notice it on either. Is it an older puter that you are running?

I didn't really notice it until I took the Norton off and put the AVG on. The speed was noticeably faster. It's about a year old Dell 512 MB RAM. Spyware, etc. no big problem, I run regular scans with 3 different programs. The only difference was the AV program.

Norton SUCKS and is a resource hog! I am using AVG at home and have not had any problems, the other AV that I like is eTrust, made by computer associates. The good one is their eTrust version not the ezTrust version. Everytime someone asks me about norton at work, my suggestion is to get rid of it!

Ive had a Computer Techie in the family come by and install AVG, said they use it on his computers, plus his company's computers......<br />Have not had 1 lick of problems with AVG.....Ive used it for about 4 yrs now and it works well.

I use AVG at home and at work and it has detected and repaired every single virus that has been thrown at me.

Norton and McAfee.....are not good to say the least.
