Re: Ant's Question

Do these guys have two or three segments to their body?Flying termites setting up new resident will have two.Ants have three. Many spieces of ants also take wing and set up new resident. All of what you are seeing likely flew in and many had already parted with their wings. Some ants as carpenter ants chew wood. All of them(termites or ants) are unwelcomed guests.I'd exterminate them asap.

Re: Ant's Question

There are several knock down products that will kill the visible ones that you are seeing. One of these is triazicde made by Spectracide.Another is Kill-a-Bug II made by Hi Yeild.Either can be applied using a hose end sprayer or the pump up type. Both are concentrates that need to be dilluted.Don't know if these are available in your area. The primary concern I would have is whether there is a colony of these buggers under your slab or foundation that will require a more surgical means of poisoning.Amdro may work for that.

I forget the name of it, but its a white powder that stinks like rotten eggs,(home depot carries it) lay that stuff out they will track it back to the nest and kill the queen.

Re: Ant's Question

Are they large black ants? If so you are going to want to find thier nest. Carpenter ants are just as bad as termites and will cause some serious damage to a house. You need to find the nest, kill the nest and then remove all the punk wood they have created and replace or repair it. Bug b gone makes an ant killer that will work up to 6 months. My house had an impropperly flashed patio door going out to the deck. We found 5 nests which included thousands of ants. One of the nests was 36 inches into the dining room under the carpet that required removing the sub floor to get rid of all the rotted wood. If this is carpenter ants you want to get rid of the problem as soon as possible

Must be the year for the little buggers. I've been fighting them for a couple of months. You gotta' find the nest and kill it. Also, I've read they may set up a secondary nest in your house but the main one is probably outside somewhere. A lot of home remedies on the internet.

Re: Ant's Question

I've had a couple invasions this summer of the little brown ants looking for sweets or grease in the kitchen. I used a liquid bait called 'Grants'. A few drops on a piece of paper that they find irrisistable. According to the package the worker ants take it back to the colony and kill the whole thing off. After a day of baiting the ants are gone, at least until a new family finds the kitchen. These are the little underground ants though, not house dwelling termite types. My sandy yard is full of the buggers.

Is the active ingredient arsenic? If so, where did you get it? I get the little buggers all the time. Used to use arsenic based Terro liquid ant killer. Did in the colony within 1 or 2 days max. Then they switched to a borox based formula and now it takes a week or two to kill a colony.

I've only been able to find borox based liquid ant bait lately, need to et some more of the arsenic based stuff.
