83 150 crossflow when tilted it drools premix out of the silencer. I know this is a common problem but I can't stop it. I tried new gaskets and even replaced the silencer cause the original one looked warped. It still leaks  I don't think in 83 when these were new that this happened.I know if I bought a new one in 83 I would have beed ticked if the first time I tilted my motor up it leaked fuel all over my boat. :D Just looking for anything anyone has tried to stop and your sucess. Thanks

I've heard of people using absorbant shop towels inside the cowling. Forces ya to open up the cover and remove it every voyage, but the motor stays clean and you get to check things over before firing up. Forgetting is a bad thing!

I've got an '87 Evinrude 90 that I had the same problem with. Turned out that the drain hose at the bottom of the silencer had cracked and come off the nipple on the silencer. The little bit of mix would then run out of the drain onto the leg instead of down the hose and into the exhaust. Took me a while to figure it out as the hose is way underneath the front half of the silencer cover -- not the part that you easily take off the engine to get to the carbs. Worth checking.

Mark

Thanks for the info, I have replaced the drain hose I forgot to metion that. It comes out between the gasket and the silencer. I was going to try some gasket sealer but need one that can be used with fuel
