Any Bayliner Rendezvous Owners? Need help.

I'm looking at a 91 Rendezvous 26' cat hull that is in pretty nice condition. Unfortunately it is powered with an outboard. (I'm not an outboard sort of guy and know little about them.)

Here is my question, the outboard is a 115 hp "Rude". I have not had the chance to drive it but will late next week but my gut reaction is that it just isn't enough HP for that large of boat. I can't imagine it being able to pull a skier or a tube with four or five on the boat with that OB.

What would a more realistic HP requirement be for that boat? Do you think I could sell the existing engine and get something bigger and if I do would I need to stick with a "rude" due to all the controls, mounts, and such?

FYI: I love the layout and space of this boat. It will spend its life with me on fresh water lakes in the mid-west. I am looking at it as a good way to take large numbers and family and friends out.

those boats do have a really neat layout. kinda like the 1st generation deck boats basically. whats the max hp rating on the hull? thats what will make the difference. 115 hp does sound weak for a 26' if you plan on doing watersports with it. if not, its probably fine just like a pontoon boat basically.

250hp sounds okay. my little 19' has 230 hp from the factory. its an I/O also though. i dont know much about outboards. always have been a fan of the rendezvous though.
