Any difference between '85 Merc 454 and '94 Merc 454???

Hey is there a difference between a 1985 Merc 454 motor and -1994 Merc 454??? HP difference? Parts? Block? Can they both work with bravo 1 and 3 drive and transom assembly??

BDW, they are complete motors with all accessories for those years, not just the block itself...

I can only tell you what someone else on this forum just told me. I have a 1986 454 and he said that it was a Mark 4 block that was made from 1965 to 1990. So maybe there's some slight differences on the 1994. I'm sure someone here will be able to clarify for sure.

Thanks man, ya i know there is gen IV, V, VI but i got no clue what is the difference, and what year falls into which gen...

Things like the fuel pump mounting boss on the block went away and rear main seal went from 2 piece to 1 piece and heads went from oval to rectangular ports. Many changes between the generation changes.
