Does anyone know if there is any difference or upgrade on the 2008 Evinrude Etec 225 H.O. from the 2007?
I have a chance to pick up a new 2007 and save about $3K.
Any considerations in this decision?

Thanks

My guess is no changes other than any computer setting changes.
The BRP site has about 15 performance reports on the 225HO including
about 8 2008 reports you may be able to pick up some performance differences or similarities.I wouldn't hesitate.I wouldn't worry much about the impeller. The motor has no maintenance scheduled for 3 years or 300 hours
The pump should surely have no problem sitting for a model year. Not much different than a motor running really low hours a year.

There is a new style fuel injector on the 2008 enigne. There was nothing wrong with the 2007 and older injectors. I believe the reason for the change is to start and get the engines even cleaner for harder EPA regs comming up. Also is some different oiling ports in the block itself. For the 3K difference I would go with the 2007.

Thanks, I did get a couple of dealers to call BRP directly and they have told me there was a head change update, as well as something in the injector and some computer updates.

I also found out the 2007 was not an H.O. for that price when I went back to fine tune the deal.

I am now leaning on the 08 H.O. model and have to make a decision early this week, as there is a Cdn promo that ends on Thursday.

I may be going in tomorrow to finalize a deal. I assume an SS prop is recommended. (I have only had aluminum in the past)
I am wondering if the I Command guages are worth the upgrade. I like the features like feul use, hours, but is there other things that could save some repair bills down the road by having the information. They say they are a
$1K+ touch and I am trying to see if I can just get part of the guage package or get some partial credit by not taking the guages that come with the motor.

There is a new high performance gearcase with the '08 225 and 250 HO models, along with the mentioned changes in the previous posts.

Glad to hear the differences, since I will have the 2008. I hope everything has been well tested.
