This is our second season with the new to us boat. I have a walk around and with the kids "stuff", towels, and beach chairs the boat is a reck. How do you handel your "stuff" when on the boat? Even my garage is being taken over with boat stuff. Any ideas???

For clothing and towels that you only need occasionally, those "Space Bags" work well. They take less room and the contents are water (and mildew) proof.

take some time and decide what it is ya want to have on board. necessities and must haves 1st. then the wanna have or could live w/o items. i made a list of these items and keep it on my computer. then at home while listening to music and drinking beer, start stashing things in whatever compartments you have. the must haves first. live jackets, baililng bucket, oars, etc. find a place for these items. keep in mind some of these must have items ya may want to get ahold of quikly while on the water. ie. lifejackets, anchor, oar, bailing bucket, so stash accordingly. try different locations for items yer unsure of where to stash at and see what works better. then ya can go with the wanna haves. when out on the water. keep yer items in their proper place ya've pick for that item. for the daily stuff. towels, suntan lotion, lateeda. i just use a beach bag. it stashes out in the open for the days useage.
i surprised myself with the storage on my 19' boat doing these things. and my boat is old and don't have storage places like the new boats have. i even get away with the folding lawn chair thing. on my boat they stash under the port seating. don't even know their there till i wanna use them.... i'm with td too. if ya ain't got room for lawnchairs or the likes. beach towels work very well indeed. the point there to me is. lawn chairs are not a must have item..... keep yer list short and to the point.

I use clip top tupperware-type storage boxes for stowing stuff in the cabin underseat lockers. They're handy for chucking wet swimming costumes and sandy towels in saving a lot of cleaning time. I also use an emergency stuffa bag for the flares/ELT on a hook by the helm and have the lifejackets on top of the storage boxes for easy access. The fire extinguisher sits in a clip out cradle bolted to the rear storage compartment next to the battery box.

The stowage onboard is made for that. Sounds like you need to make some rules about where everything is to be stowed and when. If a towel is used on any of our small craft then it gets put away afterward. On the larger stuff, who cares? Hang it somewhere to dry and the captain will let you know when it's a bit much and direct you to proper stowage.

My little 15' boat dont hold much so now I am looking for a 10' or 12' jon boat to carry the gear in. tow our stuff in it up the river to a private camp site.
I got to have my fishing chair.
