any good?

just took out my 89 35hp evinrude sun for the first time it ran good are these good motors anything i need to look out for? when i got the boat it had the exact same engine but it had a broke crank what causes that is it common?

At minimum.

1. Replace the water pump.

2. Rebuild the carburetor.

3. Drain/fill the lower unit with new fluid and new drain/fill plugs gaskets.

The 35 is a bit "stressed" in my book but very reliable, if cared for.

Snapping a crankshaft usually happens becase of three reasons. 1. Water ingestion. 2. Severe lean condition. 3. hit an underwater obstacle-HARD.

I have an '84 Johnson 35. One of the best motors I've ever owned. But I have heard of cranks breaking in them. Mine is doing just fine.

check comperssion and recorded it for future reference, if you start having troubles.
