It looks like something I could use. I plan to do quite a bit of open water trolling with a 60 hp on a 15 footer. It reportedly flattens out at wot. Comments? Opinions? Thanks, KR

Without some sort of spring or pin to hold it up, it will be flopping around back there at speed...I would think anyway

I use to use one on my 9.9 to really slow down. Made a little different, bust same principle. It does have springs on it and does stay up when running. I think I still have it laying around the shop somewhere. I gave to motor to my son-in-law.

not that exact kind, but that idea of thing (usually square ones) are fairly popular with walleye fishermen here to reduce trolling speed. Or alternatively, they troll backwards since the prop is less efficient in that direction (and you go slower). Yes the one's I've seen have some mechanism to keep them raised when they're not in use. I personally use a smaller outboard as a trolling motor and then I can go as slow as I want.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, it does have 2 spings on the underside. Claims to slow you to 1.5 mph. I've got an 18 hp tiller I could use as a trolling motor. Good idea. Thanks, KR
