Re: any of you guys use a pyle radio

Not sure this will help but I know Pyle from years ago in the car audio lines (particularly their amps and Pyle Driver subwoofers)

They were a decent middle of the road piece of equipment (meaning good quality for the affordable price)

Not sure their marine grade but try http://www.cnet.com and see if the particular model is listed and/or reviewed there.

If inexpensive, I think it's a reasonable quality product.

hope this helps.

thanks man i am usually a high end audio person i have never played with the pyle stuff i know i have heard some of the dj equipment and it was good. but alot of people knock legacy car audio stuff and i have used a couple of there amps with good sucess also. i am just not wanting to dump 400 bucks on a new deck thats going to stay out in the salt water. if the pyle last me 3 years i am ahead more than i am with my current clarion that is crapped out after 3 years

The Pyle of yesteryear is not the same company of today. Pyle is bottom of the barrel nowadays, but they do have cutting edge features like SD and USB, bluetooth phone support, etc. I bought one for my boat, but have not installed it yet. The price can't be beat, although some here have had bad luck with them. As with any low budget item, it is normally a mixed bag.. sometimes you get lucky, others you get the crap you paid for.

lowkee....thanks for your input. Again, I haven't kept up to date on them.

I've always been an Alpine guy myself. Just put some of it in my current boat (which I sold this week) and my new one comes with a Sony marine setup.

I suspect it'll get an upgrade in a year or so depending on the Sony, which I think is a good middle of the road stereo for marine use that won't break the bank either.

A little off topic here, but if you upgrade your speakers, I bought a $120 pair of marine speakers (alpine) for $59......these are an excellent speaker for marine use and a definite low cost/higher quality solution for speakers.

Re: any of you guys use a pyle radio

i had a full alpine in my bay boat it is on my golf cart now cause i loved the 6.5 marines so much lol. my party boat came with a full clarion system the speakers are great i am going to add a couple of tower boxes to the system this year. in my trucks i have always ran kicker. my old rig had kicker throughout, my new truck came with an infinity and i did a factory upgrade from the dealer to kicker speakers and amp in the truck..... so i hope this pyle setup will be ok. i plan on running one of there decks with a 400 watt amp on the 4 6.5 clarions and then the little tower boxes will be some 4inch with a tweeter and i will run them off the amp also.

I really like the Pyle PLMR19W. The specs are great, no CD drive (which I want, no moving parts, boats are tough on moving parts) all solid state memory cards and weather radio for about $80 on eBay, BUT I'm hearing mixed reviews about this brand these days.

I currently have a older Alpine MP3/CD unit in out boat, about 5-6 years old now. Works good, but you know, eventually the CD mechanism will fail and my next HU will have no moving parts.

Re: any of you guys use a pyle radio

i was actually looking at the plmr18 model, and a 400 watt amp running either my 4 clarion 6.5s and a couple little box speakers up on my top or running 4 more 6.5s down next to my old ones and having 8 total. we spend alot of time at the lake on the sand bar so i want it to project pretty far thats why i was thinking of the box speakers. if worst comes to worst i will put my dj cabinets in the boat with my little honda gen and really get to kicking
