Hi, I'm in the process of renewing the gel coat finish on a 1978 runabout. It's quite faded.

The color comes back a bit with wet sanding with 600 wet/dry...but nowhere near the deep yellow color that peeks out behind tape stripes and other protected places. Still; the finish becomes smooth and shiny...so I feel that I could do better with a rotary buffer.

I can borrow a Porter Cable Rotary buffer...but I've never done it before...and I would like to get suggestions as to what products to put on what sort of pads....what sequence of techniques to use.

If you can give me the brand names of your favorite products...I can go out and buy some and give it a try.

Thanks, Chuck

Thanks for the replies. I've started reading the search results

Can someone tell me how to e-mail another poster here? Some of the posts suggest e-mailing the member...and I see no way to do that.

In particular, I'd like to e-mail Bounder4465

Thanks, Chuck

Try Gel Gloss on a medium speed buffer with pad that almost looks like a mop head. The Gel Gloss is twice as good as any cleaner/restorer wax and more than half the price! Both can be found at Home Depot. You might have to go over it twice to get the best finish,The stuff is great.
