Re: Any one else have a Tom Sawyer?
I grabbed a 1972 18' tri-hull bowrider from my brother in law last year and hauled the thing from Arkansas up here to NY let it sit the winter then gutted it. New stringers, motor mount, transom, floor, upholstery, rewired it, all new seals and bellows on the MC outdrive. Has the typical 165 straight line 6 cyl in it. And parked it under my shed roof behind my workshop till spring. Only paid $400 for the twin axle trailer, and boat. the hull was in fantastic shape but it sat full of water for 4 years because they never pulled the plug out under the engine. I did a great job on it all and just got to sand it down and put a coat of paint on the thing. Can't wait for spring. And yes, its the first boat I ever bought. Have lots of pictures of my restore job, I might post them here just for kicks when I get m ore use to this site. Lot of work and a hell of an education. I built homes for 24 years, rebuilt many peices of equipment, build and fly remote control planes, done tons of bodywork, have more tools than anyone should be allowed to have and I knew I could fix the thing. I totally saved the things life and feeling awesome for doing it all. LOL !!!
