I suspect that my 225 Mariner may have had the power head replaced at some point in it's past.
I have been unable to locate a serial number on it anywhere.
There is no sticker or plate on the mounting bracket, in fact, I can see faintly the word "void" several times on the right side of the swivel bracket.
I have cheecked every freeze plug that I can see and none have any numbers stamped in them.
I am reasonably sure that it is a 1996 model based on several tags with dates on wiring harneses that have late 1995 and early 1996 dates.
The bleed hoses correspond with the service manual I have for a 1996 model.
Is there any other way to get a serial number off the motor?
Possibly from the iginition ECU?
Every time I want to order parts the serial number is needed, so I'd like to get a number to make ordering parts easier.
It is a carb motor btw.
