hi folks
starting gathering information regarding buying rib for fishing. what was recommended is 3.8M or more. for few reasons, such as fuel economy, trailing through hard beaches, I will go on the smallest and lightest recommended:3.8-4.2M.

I have decided to go for something new from china+good new outboard (not chinese). I see good prices on alibaba website.

already saw this RIB:
RIB-390 RIB Boat, View china rib boat, tcs Product Details from Qingdao Hiking Boats Co., Ltd. on Alibaba.com

and for the same company, this rib, if there is something smaller than this 4.8 M:
RIB-480C RIB Boat, View rib boat, tcs Product Details from Qingdao Hiking Boats Co., Ltd. on Alibaba.com

good thing i found about this company is that it claims to provide suzuki outboards with 25% cheaper than usa and other countries, meaning more than 50% cheaper than buying outboar locally here in Israel. I was informed that in addition to shippment cost (won't reach more than 600$) only 12% taxes on the boat and 6% on the outboard. total would be less than half price of what i can find here locally!!!

anyway, this is only beginning of research...
I wish i can get some recommendation for certain companies or certain boats from china or certain things to be careful with. that is if you have the experience from the far east...

many thanks

I don't know where you are located, but there is (was?) a company in the Miami, FL area the imported Chinese RIBS. A Google search should turn them up.

One thing about ordering them directly is that you have to do all the US customs work to import the boat. That can take some time and add to the cost. If you can get the boat through someone who does the importing it will cost a bit more, but be a whole lot easier.

You'll be surprised on the good quality sib/ribs PRCH are making these days at a place called Qingdao, which is the coastal all boating emporium, reputed factories are not building with local materials any more, PVC, Polyurethane fabrics are imported from Korea and Germany. German fabrics costs more. Hypalon fabrics are mostly imported from Japan (Achilles) and Orca from France, add local hand labor and you have a sib/rib excellent priced.

To have an idea, all boats sold at West Marine, Defender with own logo glued on tubes just to mention 2, are PRCH made, you think these reputed Companies will venture to sell crappy inflatables. It's globalization, tailored inflatables at affordable prices.

it is in Israel. I should somehow update my logo.
here, if you gonna buy something locally you can pay double the price or more. that's why i look for alternatives.

Sameh,

Good news, although factory only sell inflatables to worldwide dealers and dealers to final users, will make an exception, but all paperwork will need to be coordinated with me between (factory and you)

To have it clear : The largest low overboard ribs that are currently making is the 340 model, from there you jump to the Oceanic 420 + versions which are huge, generally for center consoles and larger engines. Not a combo you'll like to start with.

The other nice option are alum deck/hull ribs, can choose a 380 or 420, used to make a 400 (not anymore available, standarization issues) these 2 Sea Rider models are personalized to our particular likeness as most worldwide dealers in order to offer better price to their customers usually offers the standard 0.9 mm Korean fabrics and more simple ribs.

Will need to know :

Size, fabric material German Mehler Heavy Duty 1.2 mm or Orca 0.8 mm Hypalon, would like a Bow Locker at bow or just plain. A 380 for 2-3 fishermen would be right to start with, 420 being much larger, wide will be hard to manipulate with 2.

About fabric, if rib will not be living on outside environments all year round. Will be kept shaded after use, go for Mehler fabric which is 0.3 mm thicker than 0.9 Hypalon. The only difference between both is that Hypalon stands worst sun UV punishment through the years than Mehler. But do cost more.

Importing is easy, will need to contact a local customs agent, these guy knows all about shippers and can negotiate best shipping prices with them, can book this sib to be shared inside a container with other goods being shipped from PRCH to Israel. Air shiiping is too expensive, can double, triple the price of the rib easily. Let me know.

PD : Don't invest a cent on a used sib, hold your horses, go straight for a new rib.

... go straight for a new rib. ...

One option might be to buy a used rib and then get new tubes for it. The hull part usually lasts a lot longer than the tubes. If reasonably taken care of fiberglass will last a long time.

The last rib I bought was a '98 Zodiac 470. I bought it at the end of 2010. The dealer I got it from replaced the console, the upholstery, and put on brand new factory tubes. The motor was only a couple of years old and didn't have much time on it. The price was considerably less than a brand new boat (about 1/3 the cost), but it was essentially almost a new boat. I was quite happy with the result.

On some models of boats, the tubes slide on and off so replacing them is maybe an hour's work. Others have the tubes glued to the hull, which makes replacing the tubes a much bigger effort.

sounds good.
I have decided not to go on used. will wait till getting new one.
Did not understand the alum deck/hull Rib, deck is from aluminum and hull fiberglass? what is it different from the larger oceanic? Ain't that a standard?

I will go on 380, mehler 1.2MM. Rib will be covered all time on trailer but would be outside in the open under cover not under roof, would that be considered rough conditions favoring hypalon?
Bow locker is also for the anchor? i think it is needed anyway. what other extras can be there? console? chairs...etc...
local customs agent from israel or china? in the offers i received, shipment to port here is calculated by the seller and I will need the custom agent only when the item arrives my local port (haifa port).

Will be happy to get more information, price quotes, catalog and all necessary things. will send you my mail through private message.
I am seeking an option where i can get both rib+Outboard. It will be cheaper than buying outboard from here. do you provide that option? not chinese outboards this time.

by the way, sea rider is the name of the company? so you are a dealer? I didnot know that all the way until now :)
thanks for your efforts.

thnaks for the idea. I have given up finding used rib temporarily. as for renewing old rib it sounds good buy is not relevant at this time as I want once to have something smelling new totally and here in Israel I won't find what I am looking for used with good price to be renewed. outboards costs also more than abroad.
but the idea can be applied in different circumstances in the future.

Depends on the boat manufacturer, the size of the tubes, and the material they are made from. On my boat (470 Zodiac) I think the tubes listed for something around US$2500 at the time. Since I bought the whole boat as a package, I did not see the individual prices of each item.

If you consider that the tubes are what make up most of a rib, keep the water on the outside, make it float, provide protection to the passengers, provide attachments for lines and anchors, etc., the price seems pretty reasonable to me.

Without the tubes you don't have a boat (in most cases). By the same token, if the tubes are shot the boat is pretty worthless.
