My wife and i are in our 3rd year of fishing out of a boat and are looking for a lake near Mason City Iowa (except Clear Lake) where we can catch some fish bigger than the 12 to 14 inch walleye's we have locally. I was thinking about trying Fountain Lake that is near Albert Lea Mn. Any ideas about that lake or any other that is not more than an hour away. Thanks in advance. Tom

Have you tried Minnetonka? I caught several 26"ers there in the 80s.

Might have to go try Minnetonka. I have talked to a co-worker that went there once and he said it was full of really big boats because most of the pro athletes in Minnesota live on the lake.

There's just a lot of money in general around that area. I used to slip my 24' there years ago. No, I didn't have money. I had a bro who worked at a marina...:)
