purchased an aluminum boat with a center console/gas tank with no bottom drain on the tank. Problem is the past owner let some gas sit in the tank for 2 years and I have flushed the tank w/fuel and its extremely dirty w bad fuel and alot of black tar looking deposits. It has a top fuel line that you can only pump fuel out very slowly (squezing bulb or using a siphon pump). Does anyone have sugestions on any great chemical cleaner to flush tank and break up any left deposits. I have been through the carbs and put new fuel pump on the motor to get it running and dont want to get deposits in the motor. I have a fuel/water seperator and purchased a in line trash collector filter I will use before fuel hits the motor. To remove the tank would be a pretty big job. Any sugestions greatly appreciated

tilt the bow up, let sit several days so gunk settle to the back of the tank, route a hose thru the stern drain hole, remove the fuel sending unit. and siphon out all the gas. the with a "helping hand" get as much of the rest you can, carry spare filters for the water/fuel separator. do not use a shop vac. BOOM.

If the tank has a fuel gauge sender, remove it. That leaves a relatively large hole through which you can extract the debris.
