Any V140s out there???...

Ever since i picked up a V140 i havent seen any here on iboats . a couple of V150s and Americans , but no V140s. the reason being , i'm not sure of the year . the coastguard plate is pitted and the po is too ill to ask .
Ive tried to narrow it down by broschures , pics and accessories installed ( bench seat , no windshield , no front cleats , etc...)but i'm stuck between 1970 and 73 . is there a way to decipher the coastguard plate ? any help would be apprciated . thanks and happy t-day,...

There's a couple on YouTube, including one with the CG plate legible. Looks like max HP was 65hp. Unless you can nail down a HIN, you'll probably be limited to how closely you can narrow down the year. Is there a motor on it? If it's original motor, it MAY be same year as the boat...

sorry it took so long for me to respond but i usually get an email of the latest posts . ,......the motor that was on it was a '66 40hp johnson , so obviously not the original . i put a 70 on it and it runs like a champ . ,....

Chinewalker ,theres' no HIN and i saw 2 v140s on youtube . one is for sale , orange with black stripes on the bow . the other is running in the water with 2 guys . i guess without a ledgeable coastguard plate theres' no way of knowing the year for sure .

the po is very ill with MS , living in a nursing home and his wife can't find the title. there has to be one single identifiable thing about the boat that they built in one particular year than any other . i might be able to read the serial number . would say, the last 3 digits give any information ?

Do you have the boat, and have you paid for it?

Not sure of rules in NY, but if a title is required and the PO is in a nursing home, his wife might be able to go to X agency, here it is Sec. of State and obtain a new title.

In MI it cost $15 to have a title reissued.

the boat was free . but thats good info. . the fact that the po is too ill to register it , might make it easier to get the title. but it still doesnt give me the year . i wonder how they'll react to that . but i'll go to DMV and see what they say .

UPDATE : the po found the registration and it says its' a 15' boat . but I measured it from tip to tip and got 14' 4" . so which is it ? and its' a '71 .
the reg. is nontransferable so , here in NY DMV says she needs to show power of attorney , apply for a title and then she can transfer it to me . 6 to 8 weeks , ugghhhhh .
ALTERNATIVE >>> theres' a guy I know who sells reggies for a buckfifty cash under the table . I had numbers for it in an hour .
